David O’Reilly’s new animated short, ‘Please Say Something’ is a breath of fresh air.

Here we have a troubled Cat and Mouse love story, expressed in a way that is refreshing as a Gin and Tonic on a hot summer’s day. The shots are reminiscent of video games, the characters are irrestibily charming and the sound effects are oh-so-cute.

The first 20 secs were abit jarring though, I almost turned it off. Shots quickly jump from one another and the aesthetics are very crude to say the least. But when the characters squeak for the very first time you’ll fall in love instantly.

I haven’t seen a short this good for quite a while. I saw it 3-4 times in 24 hours!

I’ve been loving Pokelondon for about a few years now (I really hope to work there one day actually) and now I love them even more when I found out they were working on this massive project World’s First Internet Balloon Race for Orange. Simply, you make a balloon and race it across hordes of internet sites hoping you’ve flown the furthest after a few days.

Trying to figure out how they did this is mind boggling. You just have to see it to believe it. It’s probably one of the more interesting projects I’ve seen this year.

Pampador, my balloon, is currently coming 5 361st. Which is pretty amazing since he was coming around 27 000th a few days before.

I’ve also noticed two people gave my balloon a boost! Sadly, I don’t know who they are. Let me know who you are in the comments section so I can return the favour!

I would’ve preferred it to be a Ridley Scott production, but oh well…

For the unexcited, Genghis Khan was one big badarse who had the largest empire in history. He practically took over Asia, and if he hadn’t died he could’ve taken over Europe as well. “How Johnny, how?!” I hear you ask. His triumphs may have been largely contributed by his “run and gun” technique. His troops were the only ones in the world that were able to ride their horses and shoot arrows AT THE SAME TIME!

Enemy troops who hadn’t met Genghis in battle were always enticed into riding after Genghis’ retreating pretending troops. This was always a death note for the enemy as while Genghis’ troops were riding away they would always unleash a shower of arrows…

… WHILST THEY WERE RIDING!!!!

Seems like a pussy way to mow down the enemy but at least it wasn’t as wussy as the British longbows….

One of the things I missed about COFA were the people, especially in the Digital Media degree where it was a melting pot of people from different creative worlds. It was such an awesome feeling coming to a place where there was such an abundance of energy and passion (at times). One of those worlds was music, and we had plenty of COFA kids who were mixing it up in the sound labs.

Anyhow it’s great to see some friends from the degree getting some radio play of recent times:

Mr. Tom Smith aka Cleptocleptics, Chris Stracey of the Bag Raiders, and of course Jan from Krill who are soon to go on touring with Big Day Out.
