Project Natal is Microsoft’s answer to the Wii.

The difference? It looks like it works better. There’s no physical controller per se  as it’s all controlled by camera, your voice and the 4th dimension. Basically your body IS the controller. So if you’re Jimmy No-Limbs then too bad.

When I saw the demo my head exploded, just like when I saw the Wii for the first time all those years ago. It was a rush of happiness forged by the endless possibilities that lay ahead. Then I got my hands on one and  was let down when the technology didn’t work as well as we dreamed. See kids? It’s not good to dream.

What’s galacticly exciting is that this alien technology will be available on the XBOX 360 soonish. That’s right, next-next gen console magic available today (well, for the developers only). 

“What about the possibilities it’ll bring beyond gaming?” Spock asks. Well now you can clap your hands and the optical disk tray will open. Endless possibilities, Spock. Endless…

Now with all this witchcraft, I wonder what the Nintendo camp is feeling. Or are they feeling anything at all? All they brought to E3 was a heart-beat sensor (true story). The only victim here will be Nintendo’s minutely affected sales.

Oh, by the way, Sony has an answer to the Wii too. It doesn’t have a proper name yet but let’s just call it the Disco Stick.

Imagine trying to read with only 2 hours sleep. That’s right, you can’t. It’s impossible – but I did it. I’m awesome.

Oh, I know this sounds really lame but being in the same chat with them was an out of this world experience – I think there were times when I experienced enlightenment. Not kidding.

That’s right, I was in that chat room biatches!

We’ve been holding onto this hope as if it were the last cloth on our cold naked bodies. Besides Peter Jackson, only Guillermo Del Toro can bring these films to life. Remember when Sam Raimi (Spiderman films) was rumoured to be directing the films? Fuck. Imagine Hobbits going emo and doing broadway numbers in the middle of the film. That’s right. Fuck.

Anyhoo, it’s all official now. The project will span over 4 years. Oh and don’t fret for those who care, Mr. Peter Jackson will still be on board as a producer or something… But we all know he’ll have lots of input in this baby.

For those of who have no idea who Del Toro is, let me list his films: Hellboy, and the super-wonderfully-awesome-I-haven’t-yet-seen-but-have-the-dvd Pans Labyrinth. Yeah, that’s all I know…

I’ve been hoping one day the story of Genghis Khan would come to the silverscreen since we’ve got all heard the King Arthur, Joan of Arc, and other historical epics.

Well my wish has finally come true!

I would’ve preferred it to be a Ridley Scott production, but oh well…

For the unexcited, Genghis Khan was one big badarse who had the largest empire in history. He practically took over Asia, and if he hadn’t died he could’ve taken over Europe as well. “How Johnny, how?!” I hear you ask. His triumphs may have been largely contributed by his “run and gun” technique. His troops were the only ones in the world that were able to ride their horses and shoot arrows AT THE SAME TIME!

Enemy troops who hadn’t met Genghis in battle were always enticed into riding after Genghis’ retreating pretending troops. This was always a death note for the enemy as while Genghis’ troops were riding away they would always unleash a shower of arrows…

… WHILST THEY WERE RIDING!!!!

Seems like a pussy way to mow down the enemy but at least it wasn’t as wussy as the British longbows….

Great to see my Ninjaman buddies producing some great stuff under their own Subversive Games banner. Coinciding with the elections coming up in a few weeks, Scumbag ‘07 is a modified version of an earlier game they made which had our politicians trading insults school yard style.

Lol, a beautiful-looking game dudes. The characters are just too funny.

Ps. I would’ve like it more if the insults were updated as well, maybe some reflecting Howard’s caterpillar eyebrows or K.Rudd’s ear-wax eating habibts.

I’ll be showing some art at local youth culture event West Express 2. Which starts from 6:30pm tonight. Which is 1.5 hrs away. Shiet.

Come down for some short films and live music. Oh and Matt Huynh aka Stikman aka that comic book guy will be exhibiting too. And local film maker Tim Ly will also be premiering his More Than Words short film. Fuck, just come down. It’s at the Powerhouse Youth Theatre in Fairfield.

Nevermind that you can upload video, it’s the sheer ease and ability to record video from your webcam and save it directly to Facebook that is so good.

Imagine the fun you can have, especially for those who have a webcam embedded into their monitor and/or laptop.
