My new blog is here.

I initially started working on a new blog because I was getting tired of the spam that was injected in my RSS feeds (oddly enough, it’s only visible if you use Google Reader). But when I was halfway done with the new blog, the RSS spam from this blog disappeared. Just like that.

I was relieved at first, but sad at the same time as I didn’t really need a new blog anymore. I was growing fond of starting a new chapter in my online-journal-ness.

Contemplating over a few weeks, I decided to go ahead with the new blog anyway. I’ve used this theme for the better part of 4 years, and is in dire need of a fresh coat of paint. Sure I could apply a new theme, but I think I just want to close this chapter and start anew.

Besides some of the old posts like the rants, are quite embarrassing. ;)

So, dear readers, I’ve hoped you enjoyed this blog over the past 4 years, as much as I have enjoyed writing in it.

And oh, my fellow subscribers, please update your RSS feeds with this new one. And to my blog friends, please update links to my blog with this new address.

Among the partying, there was also too much magic ;)

In February I left the cosy nest that was Fluidx for a breath of fresh air.

I took 3 months off. I lay at home and wondered what my next move would be. I animated (abit), I drew (abit) and I took a holiday in Liberty City. It was the best thing I’ve done since I left college. So refreshing.

I even managed to score 6 free t-shirts. WOO

Heading towards the end of my break in June, I waned. I contemplated whether I wanted to be a Motion Designer or an Interactive Designer. Then it hit me. Why not be both? Why not combine motion graphics with the web? Rich Media is on it’s way, now is the time.

Among the horizon of agencies and web studios I stumbled upon this little place called Moon. And I never looked back.

In September, Rumble released it’s first feature length film: Maximum Choppage Round 2 in which I was involved with in the final year of the film. It was a long 4 year journey for Tim but the battle was well worth it. I created the microsite for the film as well as it’s opening titles. Combining full time work with an intense after-work work schedule to fit these jobs in totally killed me. I won’t be getting involved with a crazy schedule again. ;)

For my birthday I recieved one of the greatest cakes ever (equally as awesome as the Thomas the Tank Engine cake I got when I was a wee lad). The Steve Jobs cake was so awesome that it got caught up in the interwebs and was photoshopped!

So that was 2008. And it was a good year.

Oh, you can also order me as a pleasure machine at Sim Division. Order me now and I’ll love you long time.

When I heard we were going white water rafting for Julian’s farewell, I punched the air with excitement. I’ve been wanting to hit the rapids for ages. I think I even considered doing it for my birthday two years ago, but like most awesome ideas it never came into fruition.

To cut to the chase – I got pwned. I only lasted halfway.

Let me explain: there’s an area in the course that has a dip in the floor where the raft is able to sit there and not progress further down the track. It’s weird.

Known as “boat surfing” the objective is to simply survive. The raft tosses and turns as water gushes down around you at a ferocious pace. Half the time the raft was near enough an angle to tip over. I took it too seriously to a point that it triggered a life or death situation – I did not want to die.

At times when the raft was pretty much on it’s side, I held onto dear life. My arse was in the air about 5 times but I was able to hold on because of my massive arms. :)

I don’t think I’ve ever held onto anything so hard before. I soon used up all my strength and eventually fell into the water. Man, falling into that thing is crazy. You have no idea where everything is. It was falling into a whale’s mouth or something. Swimming at 150%, I was able to grab onto the barrier just before the decent. Realising someone was being washed away right below me, I failed at grabbing them in time. So they were sucked into the decent. It was pretty funny.
At that point someone shouted, “Let go!”. So I did. The next 4 seconds were a blur. Being tossed and turned in the rapids was freaky. I had no idea where the walls were so it was pretty scary not knowing what your face was going to smash onto.

Luckily someone threw a rope and I hung onto it for dear life.

I’ve never been so exhausted. I seriously got pwned.

The last time I was pwned was when my Counter Strike team got slaughtered 7 years ago. It was bad. It was an embarrasing day. We went home with so much defeat we huddled in the shower and cried.

Imagine trying to read with only 2 hours sleep. That’s right, you can’t. It’s impossible – but I did it. I’m awesome.

Oh, I know this sounds really lame but being in the same chat with them was an out of this world experience – I think there were times when I experienced enlightenment. Not kidding.

That’s right, I was in that chat room biatches!
