‘Please Say Something’

'Please Say Something' by David O'Reilly

David O’Reilly’s new animated short, ‘Please Say Something’ is a breath of fresh air.

Here we have a troubled Cat and Mouse love story, expressed in a way that is refreshing as a Gin and Tonic on a hot summer’s day. The shots are reminiscent of video games, the characters are irrestibily charming and the sound effects are oh-so-cute.

The first 20 secs were abit jarring though, I almost turned it off. Shots quickly jump from one another and the aesthetics are very crude to say the least. But when the characters squeak for the very first time you’ll fall in love instantly.

I haven’t seen a short this good for quite a while. I saw it 3-4 times in 24 hours!

Watch ‘Please Say Something’. Interview here.

World’s First Internet Balloon Race

Saturday, June 28th, 2008

I’ve been loving Pokelondon for about a few years now (I really hope to work there one day actually) and now I love them even more when I found out they were working on this massive project World’s First Internet Balloon Race for Orange. Simply, you make a balloon and race it across hordes of internet sites hoping you’ve flown the furthest after a few days.

Trying to figure out how they did this is mind boggling. You just have to see it to believe it. It’s probably one of the more interesting projects I’ve seen this year.

Pampador, my balloon, is currently coming 5 361st. Which is pretty amazing since he was coming around 27 000th a few days before.

I’ve also noticed two people gave my balloon a boost! Sadly, I don’t know who they are. Let me know who you are in the comments section so I can return the favour!

Scumbag ’07

Saturday, November 3rd, 2007

Great to see my Ninjaman buddies producing some great stuff under their own Subversive Games banner. Coinciding with the elections coming up in a few weeks, Scumbag ’07 is a modified version of an earlier game they made which had our politicians trading insults school yard style.

Lol, a beautiful-looking game dudes. The characters are just too funny.

Ps. I would’ve like it more if the insults were updated as well, maybe some reflecting Howard’s caterpillar eyebrows or K.Rudd’s ear-wax eating habibts.

** update **

I forgot to mention that the game even has it’s own news article. Well done boys!

West Express 2

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

I’ll be showing some art at local youth culture event West Express 2. Which starts from 6:30pm tonight. Which is 1.5 hrs away. Shiet.

Come down for some short films and live music. Oh and Matt Huynh aka Stikman aka that comic book guy will be exhibiting too. And local film maker Tim Ly will also be premiering his More Than Words short film. Fuck, just come down. It’s at the Powerhouse Youth Theatre in Fairfield.

Ninjaman update

If you’ve played our game Ninjaman released in the beginning of 2006, here’s an update on how it’s going. Hey 33 million plays ain’t bad.

Polar Clock 3.0

Tuesday, July 17th, 2007

I’m a big fan of Pixel Breaker‘s PolarClock, and it’s great to see that he’s remade the engine from scratch using Flash CS3 and Action Script 3 so it runs so much smoother.

I just love how it’s so simple yet, so beautiful.

(Ps. I feel so noob with my Action Script 1 skills…)

I’ve been following Artgerm‘s work for quite some time now. In two words, it’s super awesome.

What’s equally awesome? The studio that he set up as Imaginary Friends. Woot.

Kool Kung Fu

Tuesday, February 20th, 2007

Like Halley, I get excited in the pants when passionate kids from Cabramatta make something awesome. Watch this kung fu video, it’s probably the best student/home-made kung fu video ever. I gotta say though, the music sux balls.
