Hello World

Today I will be leaving my workplace.

What will I do next? I have no idea. If you asked me the same question last year, I would’ve given you a definite answer. I used to be really focused, really determined, really excited about creation. I always kept my eye on the prize. But today, I just feel lost. I feel like I’m just floating around, doing nothing but work and playing Call of Duty 4 until the early hours of the morning.

The feeling has been lingering for months. Probably since August.

Contributing to this feeling is probably the day I stopped working on The Paper Pirate – I just gave up. Working on the same project for the past 2 years with little progress is definitely a depressing thing. But deciding to stop working on it altogether is even worse. There are many reasons why I just gave up. Firstly, the look of it wasn’t turning out the way I had hoped for, and secondly, I’m just not that passionate about the project anymore. I’ll elaborate about the other reasons at a later date, but when it all comes down to it, the whole thing was just too damn big. It was a hard decision to make, but I really think it was the right one.

From here, I’ll be going on a 2-3 month break trying to find myself again. Hopefully I’ll be drawing and animating some really, really, really short clips as well.

Dang that’s sad to hear Jei. Was really lookin’ forward to seeing your creation in motion. Though don’t despair buddy. Everyones got their life’s ups and downs. Just do what you feel is right and love to do til your old and you’ll be right.

Best of luck on your endeavour mate. Keep us noted on future projects!
