Possibly the top two movies I’m waiting for in 2007 is Transformers and Spiderman 3. Both released their teasers in time for the holiday season (Dreamworks/Paramount released the Transformers trailer 3-4 days early you sneaky bastards!) and I must say, I am quite frustrated, though on opposite ends of the “frustration” scale for both films.
Spiderman 3 teaser is such a big tease. The symbiotic suit looks awesomely hot and how the alien form crept onto his hand is superbly spine-tingling. Sandman exceeded my expectations and I still wish Mary Jane was a tad hotter. Just a tad (… but then she may be out of Peter Parker’s dorky league). One thing that is still difficult to grasp is the fact that “That 70’s Show” star (Chris)Topher Grace plays Venom. Now if you’ve lived on the Spiderman comics, cartoons, video games and collector cards, you’d know that Venom is a big beefy son of a bitch. Now picture scrawny Mr. Grace in a beefy Venom suit. It does not compute!
In conclusion, the Spiderman 3 teaser is frustrating because I want it right now. So bad.
The Transformer live-action movie teaser isn’t such a teaser of all. Doesn’t really show much and we don’t really get to see any tranforming action, besides on the titles. The teaser isn’t on the same side of frustrating like Spiderman 3, it’s the frustrating where we waited for a month for a superly over-hyped teaser that doesn’t reveal stuff that makes us go wow. And I must say, that “simulated” Mars sequence isn’t convincing at all. Since when did satellite feeds across a bazillion miles look so clear?
In conclusion, the Transformers teaser is frustrating because it looks like a piece of turd mixed with hair and sawdust.
